On a sultry Sunday evening, me and my family decided to go for a walk in the Eliot’s beach in Chennai. As soon as we reached the beach the first thing we noticed was a huge crowed gathered at one corner ,around a wall covered with garbage. Curious to know what’s happening me and my sister walked towards the crowd. As soon as it was a bit visible, I was stunned, I saw a very dirty man in rags almost resembled a mad beggar near a beautiful painting on the wall.
Seeing it my sister who is an artist, told me that she has read about him, and he paints all the walls which has been misused for sticking bills and scribbling vulgar sketches. As I went close by I could see that he has drawn a beautiful scenery covering a scribble.

Now he started to draw another scenery, this time it’s a path near a mountain, I was amazed when he walked fast and just came few foots before me and plucked a green weed and went back and squeezed it over the wall to give a green color to the mountain ranges.

Seeing his perfection me and my sister couldn’t shut our mouth mourning about the fate of an artist in our nation.
Finally he finished the painting and turned around to face the audience whom he had forgot for a while in the process of his creation.

I could hear the person in front of me wade his children to move from that place before the man could ask for money, the kids who have been amused by the colors and perfection were startled as if they woke up from a dream. Slowly the crowd moved away as the man continued begging showing his work. Suddenly that’s when I knew my hand bag was with my mom, when he came near me, my dad came to my rescue and paid him a 20 rupees note. When I tuned back and continued my walk I could not stop thinking about the government’s hostile stand on such issues. The government takes many steps and spends huge sums of money to beautify the city and receives a lot of grants to develop art and literature but in reality an artist has to beg for filling his stomach.
